Tainá and the Amazon’s Guardians

A Brazilian Heroine for a Global Audience
Tainá is one of Brazil’s most recognizable children’s characters, originally known from the successful live-action film franchise. In Tainá and the Amazon’s Guardians, this legacy was reimagined for a new generation through animation, transforming the character into the heart of a preschool series with international reach.
The animated series preserves the essence of Tainá as a young guardian of the forest, while expanding her universe with a new visual language, a cast of expressive animal companions and stories designed for children around the world. The result is a project rooted in Brazilian culture, but with a universal message about protecting nature and living together with respect.

Story and World
In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, Tainá and her friends live near the Great Tree, a magical place connected to the life of the forest. Whenever an animal is in danger, the call of “Cru-Cru” travels through the trees until it reaches the Guardians, who are always ready to help.
This simple and powerful premise allowed the series to create a clear narrative structure for preschool audiences: a problem appears in the forest, the Guardians answer the call, and the adventure becomes a chance to learn about animals, nature, friendship and cooperation. Each episode works as a small journey through the Amazon, balancing comedy, discovery and an ecological message.

Creative Process
The creative process behind Tainá and the Amazon’s Guardians was guided by the challenge of translating an iconic Brazilian property into a 3D animated series for young children. The team worked to create a universe that felt colorful, accessible and emotionally engaging, while still respecting the environmental and cultural themes at the center of the franchise.
Hype’s work covered multiple stages of production, including character design, visual development, storyboard, modeling and texturing, rigging, layout, animation, lighting, rendering, VFX and compositing. This complete pipeline allowed the studio to shape not only the look of the series, but also the rhythm, performance and visual storytelling of each episode.

Character Design
The character design process focused on creating a cast that would be immediately readable, charming and expressive for preschool audiences. Tainá needed to feel brave, kind and connected to the forest, while her animal friends brought humor, personality and emotional contrast to the group.
The visual development of the characters also had to balance stylization and clarity. Each design was created to support comedy, action and emotional beats, while keeping the characters simple enough to work well in a 3D animated production pipeline. Public concept art from the first season shows that the development process included character exploration, visual iteration and studies for both main and supporting characters.

Visual Development
The visual development of the series was centered on the Amazon rainforest as a place of color, movement and life. Instead of treating the forest only as a background, the team approached it as a living world: full of animals, plants, rivers, trees, textures and visual details that could support story, comedy and emotion.
The goal was to make the Amazon feel magical and inviting, while keeping the environment clear and readable for young audiences. This required a careful balance between natural inspiration and stylized design, creating a forest that is recognizable, playful and full of narrative possibilities.

Making Of: Building an Amazonian World in 3D
Producing Tainá and the Amazon’s Guardians meant building an entire Amazon-inspired universe in 3D. From character design to final compositing, the production required a full animation pipeline capable of delivering a consistent visual style across 26 episodes of 11 minutes each.
For Hype, the project was an opportunity to combine technical execution with cultural and environmental storytelling. The studio contributed across the major creative and production stages, helping transform Tainá’s world into a rich animated environment where every character, prop, background and effect served the larger mission of the series.
Hype’s Role
Hype Animation played a key creative and production role in bringing Tainá and the Amazon’s Guardians to life, working in partnership with Sincrocine, one of the project’s producers. Together, the companies helped shape the animated series as a joyful, visually rich and emotionally engaging interpretation of Tainá’s universe for a new generation of young audiences.
Hype’s contribution included character design, visual development, storyboard, modeling and texturing, rigging, layout, animation, lighting, rendering, VFX and compositing. Through this broad involvement, the studio helped transform the Amazon-inspired world of the series from concept to final image, combining artistic development, technical production and storytelling craft.
The collaboration with Sincrocine was essential to preserve the spirit of the original IP while expanding it into a 3D animated preschool series with international appeal. The result is a colorful and adventurous world rooted in friendship, respect for nature and the cultural richness of the Amazon.
