ANIMATION
Project Overview
Galinha Pintadinha: O Filme is the first feature-length movie starring one of Brazil’s most iconic children’s characters. Produced by Bromelia Produções, with 3D animation production by Hype Animation, the film marks a major transformation for a franchise that began on YouTube in 2006 and became a cultural phenomenon across generations.
Created especially for the big screen, the feature introduces Galinha Pintadinha and her familiar universe in full 3D animation for the first time, expanding the property beyond its traditional musical videos into a cinematic adventure built around story, character, emotion, humor and music. The film is scheduled for theatrical release across Brazil on October 1, 2026, distributed by Imagem Filmes, as part of the brand’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

From a YouTube Phenomenon to the Big Screen
Galinha Pintadinha began almost by accident. In December 2006, creators Juliano Prado and Marcos Luporini uploaded an animated children’s video to YouTube as a way to present a project to a television channel. Months later, they discovered that hundreds of thousands of families had already found it organically, setting in motion what would become one of Brazil’s most recognizable children’s entertainment brands.
Two decades later, Galinha Pintadinha: O Filme represents perhaps the biggest creative leap in the character’s history. Rather than simply transferring the familiar music videos to cinema, Bromelia developed an original narrative specifically for the theatrical experience, designed to engage children while also speaking to parents and families who grew up with the character.

General Concept
The film follows Galinha Pintadinha as she and Galo Carijó await the arrival of their first chick. Their plans change completely when a clumsy stork accidentally swaps their egg with that of a fearsome hawk.
As a result, Pintinho Amarelinho is born far away in the hawk’s mountain nest, while a young hawk unexpectedly arrives in the peaceful chicken village. To reunite her family and correct the mistake, Popó must leave the world she knows, confront her fears and embark on a journey through unfamiliar territories.
Behind the comedy and adventure is a story about motherhood, family, courage and empathy — particularly the discovery that characters who initially seem completely different may share more than they expect.

A Story Created for Cinema
One of the fundamental decisions behind the film was not to simply extend Galinha Pintadinha’s existing audiovisual format. The creative team developed an entirely new story with a traditional feature-film narrative arc, new characters, new locations, larger emotional stakes and a world capable of sustaining a theatrical adventure.
Bromelia has described the project as a new chapter for the IP: an experience conceived from the beginning for the big screen rather than an adaptation of the short-form videos familiar from YouTube. Music remains essential, but now exists inside a broader cinematic narrative.

Character Development
Moving Galinha Pintadinha into feature animation required more than simply translating the original drawings into three dimensions. Characters designed primarily for songs and short-form content now needed to support sustained acting and emotional storytelling.
Their faces, bodies and rigs had to allow a much broader range of expressions and performances: comedy, fear, tenderness, determination and surprise. At the same time, their silhouettes, proportions, colors and most recognizable features needed to preserve the familiarity that children and parents immediately associate with the brand.
The movie also introduces characters created specifically for this story, including the Hawk, the Stork and the young hawk involved in the central egg swap, expanding the visual vocabulary of the franchise beyond its traditional cast.

Building the World
The transition to feature film also demanded a much larger world. The familiar Vila das Galinhas becomes part of a broader geography that includes mountains, skies, dangerous territories and the Hawk’s domain.
This expansion gave the production an opportunity to rethink the franchise’s environments through cinematic scale. Locations could no longer operate simply as colorful backgrounds for musical numbers — they needed to support staging, exploration, action sequences, camera movement and emotional storytelling.
The official materials already reveal a world significantly larger than the traditional Galinha Pintadinha setting, including the mountain of the Hawk and environments created specifically for Popó’s journey.

Visual Development and Look
The film’s look needed to achieve a delicate balance: modernize without losing identity.
The 3D production added depth, surface detail, atmosphere and cinematic lighting, while preserving the colorful, soft and instantly recognizable visual language of the original property. The goal was not realism, but rather to find a dimensional interpretation of the graphic simplicity and warmth that have always defined Galinha Pintadinha.
For the development of the characters’ fur, feathers and overall look, Hype counted on the support of PunkRobot Animation Studio, its Chilean partner within Los Amigos. PunkRobot contributed its artistic and technical expertise to help define how these surface qualities would translate into 3D, supporting the development of a cohesive and appealing visual language across the cast.
This collaboration reflects the broader philosophy behind Los Amigos: bringing together complementary strengths from Hype and PunkRobot to solve specific creative and technical challenges while maintaining a unified final image.

Music and Legacy
Music remains inseparable from the identity of Galinha Pintadinha. The movie includes new versions of songs that have accompanied the franchise across generations, while integrating them into an original cinematic adventure.
That relationship with music is especially important because the property itself originated as a project dedicated to presenting traditional children’s songs through animation. The feature therefore does not abandon the DNA that made the character famous; instead, it uses cinema to broaden what that musical universe can become.
Working with Bromelia
For Hype, the project meant collaborating directly with Bromelia Produções, the company created by Juliano Prado and Marcos Luporini and responsible for developing and managing the Galinha Pintadinha universe since its earliest years.
The relationship required close interaction between the IP creators and Hype’s production teams. Bromelia brought two decades of understanding of the characters, music and audience, while Hype brought the infrastructure and specialized 3D expertise required to translate that universe into feature animation.
The challenge was therefore not to reinvent Galinha Pintadinha, but to help the creators discover what Galinha Pintadinha could become in cinema.

Hype’s Role
Hype Entertainment was the animation production studio behind Galinha Pintadinha: O Filme, working for Bromelia Produções to bring the franchise’s first 3D feature film to the screen.
The project required Hype to operate at feature-film scale, transforming an established 2D property into a complete three-dimensional cinematic universe and carrying that universe through the production pipeline. The studio’s work encompassed the creation and execution of characters, environments and shots needed to transform Bromelia’s creative vision into finished 3D animation.
Unlike projects in which Hype contributed only to selected stages, Galinha Pintadinha: O Filme represents a major full-scale feature production for the studio. It combined asset creation, character work, environments, animation and the technical demands of a long-form 3D production within a single unified pipeline.
For Hype, the project is particularly significant because of what the property represents in Brazil. Bringing one of the country’s most recognizable children’s characters into 3D cinema for the first time meant working not only with an important client and IP, but with a character already embedded in the childhood memories of millions of Brazilian families.

From Digital Icon to Cinematic Character
The journey of Galinha Pintadinha is unusual: a character born from an online video in the earliest years of YouTube in Brazil, transformed into a national entertainment phenomenon, and now arriving in theaters twenty years later as the protagonist of a fully animated 3D feature.
For Hype, helping execute that transformation is at the center of the project. The challenge was not simply to produce a movie, but to translate twenty years of visual recognition, music and emotional connection into a new cinematic language without losing what made the character iconic in the first place.
That makes Galinha Pintadinha: O Filme both a major production milestone for Hype and an important new chapter in the history of Brazilian animation.
